Driving around Armenia is convenient: distances are short, main roads are paved, and the most beautiful places are a couple of hours from Yerevan. A few tips will help you feel confident.
In the city
- Traffic drives on the right. Yerevan has heavy traffic at rush hour — allow extra time for the airport.
- There are many speed cameras in the city and on highways — watch the speed limit signs.
- Seat belts are mandatory, and using a phone while driving without a hands-free kit is not allowed.
Red-line parking
In central Yerevan, parking spaces marked with red lines are paid. For MobiRent cars red-line parking is already paid — you don’t need to deal with payments.
Out of town
- Many roads go over passes and serpentines. Take your time and avoid mountain driving in the dark.
- In winter there can be snow and ice on the passes — choose an all-wheel-drive SUV for such trips.
- Watch out for livestock on the road, especially in villages.
- There are petrol stations along all main roads; in remote areas fill up in advance.
Navigation and internet
Popular map apps work well for navigation. If you need mobile internet on the road, add a Wi-Fi router to your rental.
